Nokia 808 PureView

Nokia 808 PureView Review: Symbian-toting smartphone is certainly unique, packing a jaw-dropping 41MP camera, along with full HD 1080p recording capabilityNokia 808 PureView: BuildNokia 808 PureView: CameraNokia 808 PureView: FeaturesNokia 808 PureView: ScreenThe Nokia 808 PureView sports a 4-inch screen. The Nokia 808 PureView certainly raises eyebrows when it was announced at MWC 2012, mainly thanks to its gargantuan 41MP (yes, 41MP) camera, making it a potential sucessor to the Nokia N8. While the recent NokiaLumia 800 andNokia Lumia 710 feature Windows Phone 7, the new 808 PureView sits at the top of the Nokia Symbian range.
The Nokia 808 PureView sports a rubberised finish and is available in a choice of colours, making it look more like a rugged handset, rather than a range-topper.
The rubber finish adds a nice bit of grip, and while the phones fits reasonably comfortably in the hand, it's quite chunky, particularly at the thickest point, where the camera lens protrudes slightly. It's certainly not a slimline phone, so if you're looking for a svelte model, then this probably isn't the phone for you.
The big draw here is the 41MP camera. This sort of megapixel count hasn't been seen on a phone before, and is usually limited to medium format pro cameras. The Carl Zeiss lens is teamed with Nokia's pixel over-sampling technology, which has been designed to produce sharp pictures, even in low light conditions, along with the ability to save the images in compact file sizes for easy sharing.
A high megapixel count doesn't necessarily equal good picture quality, so it remains to be seen whether this will be a huge improvement on the N8, but we certainly look forward to testing it our for ourselves.
As well as the camera, the Nokia 808 PureView also offers Dolby headphone technology, along with Nokia Rich Recording Mic tech for catpuring sound with as little inteference as possible. We weren't able to test either of these features on the busy, loud Nokia stand at MWC but we'll certainly be putting the phone through its paces when we can get our hands on a full review, sample.
The single-core 1.3GHz processor is decidely mid-range, but the UI appeared to operate relatively swiftly, although we found that the camera took a couple of seconds to boot up -not a great start for a handset that's being sold on the basis of a strong camera performance.
Packing a preposterously high megapixel count of 41 on its camera, the Nokia 808 PureView is certainly an interesting phone to lead the Symbian range.

Nokia Lumia 900 coming to AT&T on April for $99.99

AT&T and Nokia has announced that Nokia Lumia 900 would be available exclusively in the U.S. from them on April 8 for $99.99. Nokia and AT&T  announced the Lumia 900 with AT&T’s 4G LTE support at CES 2012 in January. The Nokia Lumia 900 has 4.3-inch ClearBlack AMOLED display and is powered by a 1.4GHz Qualcomm  Snapdragon S2 processor. It has 8 MP camera on the back with Nokia’s Carl Zeiss optics and a front-facing camera which was missing in the 800. It runs on Windows Phone 7.5 (Mango) and has 1830 mAh battery.

The AT&T U-verse Mobile lets U-verse TV subscribers browse the U-verse TV program guide, schedule and manage their DVR recordings, and watch hit TV shows while on the go. It has pre-loaded ESPN sports hub app and Nokia Drive that is downloadable from Windows Phone Marketplace.

At&T customers can pre-order it in cyan or black beginning March 30 online or at any AT&T company-owned retail store. The Nokia Lumia 900 would be available on April 8 for $99.99 and requires a new 2-yr wireless agreement with voice (min $39.99/mo) and minimum monthly data plan ($20/mo).

White International Lumia 900 leaked

Yesterday Nokia all but confirmed the white Lumia 800, which we will go hands-on soon. But they also showed off another Windows Phone device. Whether accidental or intentional, the Lumia 900 sans AT&T logo is featured, in plain sight, on their Facebook page. And in white.

While Nokia has not confirmed the international variant of the Lumia 900, it is expected that the specifications will remain the same as the AT&T version, minus the LTE radio. As MWC is in the next couple of weeks, speculation is rife that Nokia will announce the GSM version of the Lumia 900, and this leak will only further confirm that.

Nokia confirms Lumia 900 connectivity bug, to offer $100 credit and a software update

update firmware Nokia Lumia 800

Nokia’s first Windows Phone handset , the Lumia 800 has received its 3rd major update since launch. The update reportedly fixes the fairly average battery life of the handset. Initial reports estimate upto triple the battery life compared to the previous update.
Nokia Lumia 800 Earlier this week in Refresh Roundup, we wrote of a Vodafone-branded update for the Lumia 800 with a designation of 1600.2487.8107.12070. Among the enhancements, the new software version was said to provide longer battery life -- a welcome improvement, no doubt -- but we could've never guessed the significance of the gain. The folks at WPCentral recently forced the update onto their own phones and, get this, they assert the new software has nearly tripled(!) their battery life. While our heads are still spinning at the assertion, they claim the improvements are in part due to better management of the screen's brightness and cite an approximate discharge of 70mA when idle. Meanwhile, reports in the forums of xda-developers claim that battery drain is in the neighborhood of 80mA and 90mA when idle -- not quite as stunning, but still a huge improvement in comparison to the approximate 150mA discharge with the previous version. While your mileage may vary, this latest update could prove to be a true godsend for Lumia 800 owners.

T-Mobile : Nokia Lumia 710 is being made as a $349 prepaid option

HOLLYWOOD, CA - FEBRUARY 12: A general view of atmosphere at Redlight Management's post-Grammy event hosted by T-Mobile and Google Music in celebration of the Magnified Artists program by Google Music on February 12, 2012 in Hollywood, California.
At $49.99 with a 2-year contract, the Nokia Lumia 710 seemed quite tempting right out of the gates when it was launched, but then its price was slowly chomped down to $39.99, and eventually to that lovable free price point. Naturally, postpaid customers have been relishing in the love of being able to check out the first Nokia Windows Phone in the US, but it appears as though it’s making its way to the carrier’s prepaid lineup as well.

For a brief moment in time, T-Mobile had the Nokia Lumia 710 selling for $200 no-contract with free shipping online, but it seems that the deal has expired and the smartphone has been pushed back to its normal $349.99 pricing. Nevertheless, it might still prove to be big savings for those individuals that don’t want to be a slave to a contract of some kind.

Considering that most smartphones sell outright for $500 and above, this $349.99 pricing isn’t bad at all – though, we have to admit it’s still a tossup. Specifically, it’s either this or forking out nothing to pick it up with a contract, which would mean paying T-Mobile either way for service.

Nokia Lumia 710 is being made as a $349 prepaid option through T-Mobile
Whichever way you go, it’s worth noting that it’s not every day we find a Windows Phone gracing a carrier’s prepaid lineup, especially when most of the ones we’ve seen thus far have been offered as postpaid devices and nothing else. If you’re not one-hundred percent sold by it just yet, simply wait a bit of time, and it’ll eventually receive some additional price cuts to make it a no-brainer decision. Any takers now it’s being offered as a prepaid option?

Nokia Lumia 800 in a MACH 5 Wind Tunnel Test

Lumia 800, Nokia’s first Windows Phone device is a tough little guy. We already saw it
enduring scratch and drop tests, but it can do much more than that, it seems.

Nokia has tested it to the full, and even put it inside a MACH 5 wind tunnel to see if it could withstand the test. And it did.

As you can see in the video embedded above, the Nokia Lumia 800 smartphone continues to work
even after being subjected to the extreme pressures in MACH 5 wind tunnel.

MACH 5 is classed as 'hypersonic,' though Nokia Lumia 800 might not be able to deliver such fast
speeds when it comes to browsing the Internet or downloading files.

Of course, it still has a lot to offer, and can certainly outperform many of its rivals, as other Windows
Phone devices already managed to

The Nokia 710 1.4 Ghz 14. 4Mbps

The Nokia Lumia 710 works by using a 1. 4 GHz Scorpion cpu, but unlike several alternative options in the Nokia range, actually utilises the Ms Windows phone 7. 5 mango computer. The handset itself is a sleek and stylish unit which measures 119 mm back button 60 mm wide whilst being 12 l thick and weighing 125 g with weight.

Nokia 710

The Nokia Lumia 710 would be the more midrange of the two, but I have to say, it was attraction at primary sight. The phone itself is pretty typical in space and layout--Nokia left all the design risks towards Nokia Lumia 800, with its polycarbon unibody pattern, lack of a battery cover, in addition to single visible screw.

Yet the Lumia 710 satisfies together well, feels good in this hand, and has some fun, funky colors and quirks that set it in addition to the legion of sleek 'n' glossy, black and gray phones that often dominate. If you spend a great deal of time trying out the highest conclude smartphones, the Nokia 710's screen might seem a little pokey. But on 3. 7-inches, it's more than adequate for many of us users and not bad quality, although at certain times images did seem a little jaggedy.

Nokia 710

Now to the specs! The Nokia 710 has some sort of 3. 7-inch LCD screenwith some sort of WVGA 800x480-pixel resolution. It employs Nokia's ClearBlack present technology, which helps filter out the light to raise contrast, and also improve readability in sunlight. While not nearly as stunning for the reason that Lumia 800's AMOLED display of identical size, it still looks nice in addition to bright and colorful.

Nokia 710

Playing to Nokia's very long tradition of interchangeable phone fascias, this Nokia Lumia 710 offers five compatible multi-coloured back panels; we like the turquoisey blue while using the white body but hey, you may make your own design decisions here.

Within the back is the 5-megapixel camera the len's with LED flash. You'll be happy to know so it supports 720p HD video capture at 30 fps. Nokia is known for its sturdy camera phones, so I wasted not much time working those angles. Most of the photos I had taken were indoors and saturated with an abundance of natural light supplied by large microsoft windows, and the photo quality looked excellent overall, though I'll need some longer and lighting situations to really establish quality.

Nokia 710

In terms of memory capacity the handset comes with a 8 GB internal memory capacity that's sufficient the most requirements, whilst also offering Micro USB and Bluetooth connectivity jointly with a class 33 versions of GPRS in addition to EDGE. For those who require Access to the internet the unit offers either a ' Fi option, providing access to available hotspots or the choice of its own 3G connection, with the means to access the net at speeds as high as 14. 4 Mbps.

The Nokia Lumia 710 White is usually an alternative colour variant, which provides choice with the consumer. Irrespective of the colour chosen the simple fact remains the handset offers advanced technology at a cost-effective price.

Nokia Lumia 800 white version hands-on

It seems apt that Nokia has chosen to announced a new colour Lumia 800 this week. Europe has been blankated by snow – so what better way than to celebrate than making official the white version. White is a popular colour for a phone, and while the previous versions has always looked so darn beautiful on the Lumia 800′s Polycarbonate unibody shell, it just isn’t quite as sexy as it is in white.
Unlike its technicolour cousins, the white Lumia 800 features a glossy finish rather than matte. This means that it attracts fingerprints, and doesn’t hide scratches nearly as well as matte. Why no matte? Well Nokia’s explanation is that a glossy finish is easier to clean than a matte one – highly critical with a product of this colour. Regardless the glossy finish really compliments the snow white colour really well. While it does attract fingerprints, it isn’t as apparent as I assumed it would be.
In any case all four of the Lumia 800 features the exact same specifications, down to the 16GB storage – meaning, unlike the N9, there is no 64GB version. Still you can’t argue that the white version does looks rather sleek, and would no doubt be a popular variation. Shame there isn’t a custom white Metro tiles to go with this.
So what’s sexier than a white Lumia 800? A Dark Knight Rises Lumia 800 of course
With four colours to choose from, there is no better time to pick up a Lumia 800 if you are already on the market for one. In the mean time, do enjoy the gallery of the white Lumia 800 alongside its colourful cousins.
