PlayStation Suite Extends the Experience to Android Devices

At the PlayStation Meeting 2011 in Japan, Sony announced its future plans for its gaming brand PlayStation. What did these plans entail? A lot of great news for Android lovers; both tablets and smartphones alike.

The focus of the mobile segment of the meeting focused on the term “Cross Platform”. Sony’s CEO Kaz explains:

There was a time that the only way to play a game outside was to carry a portable gaming console like the PSP. These phone devices are finally technically ready for PSP-like performance.

So what has Sony developed? The PlayStation Suite. The “PlayStation Suite extends the PlayStation experience beyond the PSP, by providing PlayStation content to other devices.” – for Android phones and tablets.

Sony’s Plan

First, Sony will ensure content quality testing on devices to ensure the quality of playback. Second, they will emulate the first generation PSP titles to be available on PS Suite devices (Android).

The PlayStation Suite is expected to be release by the end of this calender year. There seems to be no mention of an iPhone version to PlayStation Suite.
